Support for farmers
In the Philippines, small farmers find themselves in particularly precarious situations. Subject to the vagaries of climate, natural disasters, and inflation, the slightest setback in life places them in a situation of great distress.
A common solution is for them to take care of cows that we lend them, and as they raise them, their value increases. If necessary, the cow is sold and 75% of the profit goes to the farmer. As for calves, they can be sold each year, providing additional income for the family. It is a system that poor families are grateful for, but it is barely sufficient.
The Kaloob Association, founded by Assumptionists in the Philippines, decided to turn the system around by giving them 75% of the sale price.
The remaining 25% is used to buy another cow for another family.
The cost of a cow is 300 euros.
