Join the Assumptionist Family
The Assumptionist Congregation was founded in the 19th century in Nîmes, in the south of France, under the leadership of Father Emmanuel d’Alzon, the founder of this congregation. He chose to give his religious family the Rule of Saint Augustine, hence our name, the Augustinians of the Assumption

Through simply encountering people, the Assumptionist discovers a personal call to dedicate himself or herself totally and without reserve.
It is not a matter of conforming to a mold or a particular way of being or thinking, but of recognizing that we allow ourselves to be gradually evangelized by the Lord, through the Gospel, prayer, and above all through fraternal life, as we help the Kingdom of God grow where we live, following the example of Mary.
To help the Kingdom of God grow, at the Assumption we have many opportunities, whether through the media, education, youth ministry, student ministry, or in parishes…
Many Assumptionists testify that what struck them most when they met us was the simplicity of life, the fraternity, the family spirit, a congregation open to modernity, capable of adapting to new times, and above all, brothers who are happy first and foremost.
Our consecration rests on two dimensions
Our consecration to the Lord rests on two dimensions: on the one hand, the Assumption places great importance on community life, with very strong bonds with others—with the brothers, with the sisters, and with the laity. The second dimension is Augustinian spirituality.
The Assumption is a large family. To discover it, simply open the door of an Assumptionist community and come share with us a moment of prayer, a meal, or a time of conversation. We are convinced that some will find in this common prayer, in this shared table, a true path of life.
